"Fundraising Skills" Course

Aim of the training:

This course aims to provide the trainees with knowledge and skills in fundraising.

Trainers' Biography

  • Dr Nghiêm Liên Hương is currently a lecturer at the Anthropological Department of National University of Humanities and Social Sciences in Ho Chi Minh city where she has joined recently. She got a PhD in Social Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 2006. She obtained working experience in development work in a number of bilateral donors in Vietnam like JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and AusAID (Australian International Development Agency). Especially, she was in charge of evaluating proposals of small grants for international and local NGOs in AusAID. Therefore, she was familiar with the process and procedures of fundraising as well as points that should be paid attention to in the relationship between the grantee and the donor.
    As a project officer and as an independent consultant, she participated in monitoring and evaluating different development projects, the insights of which played an important role to the successful fundraising in the long-term perspective. Besides, she also facilitated the organization of some charity concerts to raise funds for people with disability in Sri Lanka. Therefore, as the creditability of the course, she wishes to share with the trainees her experience in this field through active interaction with the trainees in different new forms of teaching and learning like games, situational exercises and role-play. After the course, she hopes that the trainees will obtain some basic understandings and skills about fundraising and will be able to apply them to raise fund for their own organizations.
  • Ms Nguyễn Thị Thu Thủy has more than 7 years of experience working for Education for Development (EFD) in the area of Training Centre Management, Volunteer Management, Fundraising - Public Relations and Active Teaching Methodology. She is trained by experienced and qualified foreign trainers on fundraising skills. She has conducted successful courses on Fundraising Skills with foreign trainers. In addition, Ms Thủy has participated in organizing fundraising events for some local social organizations. She always creates interesting atmosphere in the training classes by using active teaching methods such as role play, group discussions, games, drawings, case studies and etc. Moreover she has very good interaction with the participants as she is very friendly and very closed to the trainees.
